DI KHAN, 23 November: Pakistan Tehreek Insaf chairman Imran Khan launched plantation drive here in Hipchapak area on Monday. Planting the first tree of the proposed forest here Imran Khan said a total of 500,000 saplings would be planted throughout the district and two separate foresets would be established.

Talking on this occasion Imran Khan said that global warming had badly affected Pakistan and the present KP government had been striving to plant more and more plants to counter the challenge. “We have been playing our role. We have decided to plant one billion trees during the next five years in KP. So far, we have planted more than 100 million trees and hopefully we will achieve our target billion tree tsunami,” he said.

Imran Khan further informed that the provincial government had decided to established a separate department to curtail timber mafia and stop illegal cutting of woods.

The PTI chairman, on this occasion, also set free three more falcons of rare species which were earlier confiscated by the Wildlife department.
