Imran Khan endorses key PTM’s demands

PESHAWAR: The chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Imran Khan vows to merge FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa immediately if he succeeds in forming the next federal government.

Speaking at FATA Workers convention in Peshawar, he said that the businesses were ruined, houses were blown away due to military operation inflicting loses of billions of rupees.

Khan maintained that the demands of PTM Leader Manzoor Pashteen are genuine and promised to to meet with army Army Chief and put concerns of Pashtun youth before him.

“I will discuss the matter of reducing the number of check posts, clearing landmines and missing persons with the Army Chief General Bajwa” he said and added that his party would conduct local body elections in FATA within 180 days of gaining power in center. He maintained that a committee has been formed for the people of FATA and its recommendations are being forwarded to the standing committee on reforms in FATA.

Khan also promised that an extra Rs100 billion will be spent on mega projects in the tribal areas after his party comes in power. Refering to the sacrifices made by the tribal people, he said “The tribal people are simple and patriotic and have gone through many sacrifices to ensure peace and stability prevails”. He said that the permit system will also be abolished in tribal areas if his party wins next elections.

At this occasion, the Chief Minister of KP Pervez Khattak and PTI Coordinator for FATA Allama Noorul Haq Qadri blamed Molana Fazalur Rehman and Mehmood Achakzai for delay in Fata reforms.
