PESHAWAR, 13 August: To share the celebrations of Independence Day with physically challenged persons, a colorful program was held at the paraplegic Center in Hayatabad on Saturday.

Large number of physically handicapped people, their family members and doctors attended the event. Disabled persons sang national songs, danced on the wheelchairs and enthusiastically participated in other competitions, which were part of the program.

National songs competition was also held. Besides, glowing tributes were paid to those who laid down their lives for the independence of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, chief executive of the paraplegic center said the purpose of the program was to encourage disabled persons and provide them opportunity to express their feelings and join the nation in the celebrations.
