PESHAWAR, 22 December: The University of Peshawar has got another feather in its cap by establishing a new discipline, the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS). Vice chancellor Dr. Rasool Jan inaugurated the building of the new department on the university campus here on Thursday.

According to university administration, the new building has been completed at a cost of Rs120 million in two years.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rasool Jan said it was a matter of pride for the University of Peshawar to be the pioneer of the program in the province.

He hoped that department would allow the youth to undertake academic research and prepare themselves for tackling future challenges including establishing peace and conflicts resolution.

The department would also help students who wish to deepen their understandings of the processes involved in conflicts and are interested in sharpening their knowledge of how to manage conflicts constructively.

Director, Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, Dr. Jamil Ahmad, faculty members and students were also present on the occasion.
