MARDAN, 22 May: A two-day international conference on impact of NATO troops withdrawal from Afghanistan on Pakistan organised by Political Science Department of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan concluded yesterday.

The conference titled ‘NATO Drawdown from Afghanistan: Challenges and Opportunities’ was attended by eminent journalists from Pakistan, Turkey, England and India, analysts, military officers and students of the university. Speakers on the occasion also held in-depth discussions on the Durand Line agreement. They urged both the neighbourly countries to take steps towards improvement of bilateral relations.

Students who attended the seminar called it a very useful event for their academic development.

“The conference on Afghanistan was very informative for students. We are students of political science and international relations is also included in our course which is very beneficial for us. Special emphases were laid on the post-NATO troops withdrawal scenario in Pakistan in the conference and we got a clear picture of the looming consequences in the region. We also put few questions and got very satisfactory answers,” a female political science student told TNN.
