PESHAWAR, 7 November: Former Pakistan cricket team captain Inzamam ul Haq will now train Afghan cricketers for future competitions. An agreement to this effect has been signed between Inzamam and the Afghan Cricket Board. The former Pakistani great will work with Afghan cricket team as head coach.

Afghan Cricket Board chairman Naseemullah Danish while talking to media hoped the appointment of Inzamam as head coach will help Afghan cricketers improve their performance in future. “We are satisfied with the performance of Inzamam during the recent tour of Zimbabwe. We hope that our players will definitely learn a lot from his experience,” Danish said.

Inzamam had said that Afghan players are very talented but they need proper patronage and coaching. Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe in the recent T20 and One Day series. It was the first ever series win by an associate member against a test-playing nation.

Afghan team has good fast bowlers but the area where they lack was batting. But after the appointment of Inzi, the Afghan players showed lot of commitment during the Zimbabwe tour.
