PESHAWAR, 11 February: Islamabad United beat Lahore Qalandars by eight wickets in the ninth match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Sharjah on Wednesday night.
Lahore Qalandars scored 166 runs after being sent in to bat first by the Islamabad United. Wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Rizwan scored 50 off 27 balls hitting three sixes and five boundaries. Captain Azhar Ali scored 27, Dwayne Bravo 26, Naved Yasin 25 and Umar Akmal contributed 23 runs in the total.
Chasing the 167-run target, Sharjeel Khan and acting captain Shane Watson hammered the biggest opening stand of 153 runs of the league. Islamabad chased down the target in the 16th over for the loss of just two wickets.
Sharjeel scored 79 runs off 43 balls whereas Shane Watson scored as many runs off 47 deliveries.
Peshawar Zalmi will take on against Karachi Kings at 4:30 pm in Sharjah while Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators will face each other at 9:00pm.
