JI holds protest against excessive load shedding, slow pace of work on Bajaur-Mohmand road

KHAR, 27 November: Activists of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Sunday staged a protest demonstration against excessive load shedding of electricity and slow pace of work on the Bajuar-Mohmand road.

The JI workers rallied through the Inayat Kali bazaar near here and chanted slogans against the local administration.

Apart from holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against excessive load shedding and slow pace of work on the road, the protesters were also chanting slogans against FCR and demanding its immediate and complete abrogation.

Addressing the protesters, JI central Naib Ameer Sahibzada Haroon Rasheed, JI Ameer Fata chapter Haji Sardar Khan and Bajuar chapter Ameer Haji Abdul Majeed Khan said that FCR was the root cause of all the problems of the tribal people as they were being deprived of all their basic rights due to the black colonial law.

They said it was the inefficiency of the political authorities that the Bajaur-Mohmand road could not be completed so far, adding due to the slow pace of work on the road, the local tribesmen had been facing numerous problems.

The JI leaders alleged that the corruption was done in the awarding of the contract of the project. They demanded that the matter should be properly investigated.

“It is a matter of shame for the government that 25-kilometer road could not be completed in five years,” said Abdul Majeed while talking to TNN.

“The road is not in a condition to be used for travelling as it has patches after every one meter,” he remarked and added that elderly people and patients faced more hardships when they were shifted to hospitals.

He also demanded of the federal government to allocate special share for Fata in the multi-billion dollars China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
