JAMRUD, December 2: Authorities of Khyber Agency and local tribesmen held a jirga to discuss ways and means for restoring peace in Khyber Agency.
Apart from the Khyber Rifles Commandant Mr Tariq Hafeez, Assistant Political Agent of Jamrud tehsil Mr Fahad Wazir and the elders of Kokikhel, Mullagori and Jhandakhel tribes attended the jirga.
In his speech, Mr Tariq Hafeez said stern actions would be taken against those who sheltered the militants.
In order to bring peace to the region, he sought cooperation of local residents and said that the security forces would respect the values and culture of residents during military actions.
“If a single soul or a tribe is verified to be involved in any anti-government or anti-state activity or even if anybody is just suspected of such an act, he would be considered a criminal,” he added.
On the occasion, tribesmen assured the commandant and assistant political agent that they would cooperate with authorities at all costs.
