PESHAWAR: A joint investigation team (JIT) has been formed to investigate the kidnapping and murder of Superintendent of Police (SP) Tahir Dawar.
Media reports said the JIT formed by the Islamabad chief commissioner will be headed by SP Investigation, while it will also have representatives from Police, Intelligence and CID. The JIT will complete its investigation under the time period under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also announced Shaheed Package of Rs15 million for the family of the slain police officer. KP Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai said the family of SP Dawar will receive his salary till his retirement date and his children will also get free medical treatment, education scholarships and a position of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in KP Police.
SP Tahir Dawar went missing from Islamabad on 26 October and his body was recovered in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan four days ago. He was laid to rest in Peshawar after his body was handed over to Pakistani officials at Torkham border.
