PESHAWAR, 30 October: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that JUIF leader Maulana Fazal-ur-Rahman has been convinced on the merger of Fata in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This he said while talking to media persons here at the University of Peshawar convocation on Monday.

“I have met with both Maulana Fazal-ur-Rahman and Mehmood Khan Achakzai on the directives of Prime Minister. The maulana has expressed his agreeability on the proposed merger of Fata in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he informed.

“The recommendations of the Fata reforms committee are being implemented and soon the tribal agencies will soon be made part of the province,” he added.

Meanwhile, JUI-F’s ameer of Fata chapter, Mufti Abdu Shakoor has rejected the governor’s claim about the agreeability of Maulana Fazal-ur-Rahman on the merger of Fata.

Mufti Abdu Shakoor told TNN that Maulana Fazal-ur-Rahman had already rejected the merger of Fata and would never agree to the proposal in future. “Our party’s stance on Fata reforms is very clear. We want abolition of FCR and a separate Fata province,” he added.
