GHALLANAI, 20 August: The kabaddi players of Mohmand Agency have complained that the government is not extending any cooperation to them due to which the traditional sport is diminishing in the region.

Mohmand Agency kabaddi team captain Rehmanullah said his team have won many local tournaments. He said his team is capable of competing on the international level if it gets proper training and other facilities.

“The government did not give much attention to kabaddi as it gives priority to cricket and football. Our region is producing good kabaddi players. The government assistance with the kabaddi players will further promote the sport,” he told TNN.

The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA are historically associated with the game of kabaddi and everyone knows its rules. Kabaddi matches were very common in the past but nowadays very few kabaddi tournaments are being held. Hundreds of kabaddi players of FATA have kept the sport alive despite hard conditions. These players say they are capable of competing on international level if they get proper assistance and training.
