CHITRAL, 23 December: The annual religious festival of Kailash tribe of Chitral, Chattar Mas concluded on Tuesday.

The concluding ceremony has been delayed for a few days due to death of a woman in the tribe. Chattar Mas is a religious festival of the Kalash tribe which they observe in the last week of their religious colander year. A large number of boys and girls pick their life partners during the concluding ceremony and the tribal elders narrate the stories of forefathers to the children. During the three-day festival, the people of Kailash remain confined inside their homes and latter sacrifice animals on the hilltop.

 

The most attractive part of the festival is traditional dance in the circle by the Kailash people. A large number of local and foreign tourists come to Kailash to enjoy the festival.

At the end of the festival, the religious leaders of the Kailash tribe make predictions about the happenings in the next year.
