KHYBER: Syed Jalal Wazir, chairperson of All Khasadar and Levies forces committee has announced to postponed March 15 Sit-in at D-Chowk in Islamabad after Corps Commander ensured support for their rightful demands on Thursday.
Syed Jalal while talking to media persons in Khyber said their committee has held a meeting with corps commander, Peshawar who has expressed support and said that he will raise all the concern issues with the federal and provincial governments. “The corps commander has accepted all our rightful demands,” announced Said Jalal, during his media talk. However, said Jalal, the corps commander has sought time till March 20 to discuss the issues with the provincial government.
Syed Jalal claimed that the Corps commander has expressed full support for the demands of the All Khasadar and Levies forces. Due to which, the committee has decided to postpone the March 15 Dharna in D-Chowk, Islamabad which was arranged to press the government to accept their demands.
But, the head of the paramilitary forces committee said, their protests in all tribal districts will remain intact. He added that during this time, they will not participate in the anti-polio immunization campaigns and will not extend any support to the provincial government.
The Khasadar and Levies are paramilitary forces stationed in the area formerly known as Fata. There is a total of 30,000 personnel of the Khasadar and Levies in the seven former agencies and six frontier regions. Over 2,000 personnel of these paramilitary forces laid down their lives during the fight against terrorism in the area. The Khasadar and levies force added demanding the government to extend the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department to tribal districts and merged the Khasadar and levies forces with the police force. They asking for equal salaries and privileges as provided to the Police personnel in the province.
