JAMRUD: The Khassadar Force personnel in tribal districts have announced to boycott registration of first information reports (FIRs) and Roznamcha of cases until their demands are accepted by the government.
Announcement to this effect was made at a meeting of All Khassadar Force at Bab-e-Khyber in Jamrud, Khyber tribal district, on Thursday.
Khassadar Force officers and personnel from all tribal districts participated in the meeting. Participants of the meeting expressed concern over different steps of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and presented their demands. They said the government had made promises with them on the 22-point charter of demands. They alleged that the demands were not met and contrary to that the agreement is openly violated. They demanded that all the 28,000 former Khassadars and Levies must be regularized through a single notification and issuance of notifications in phases is not acceptable to them.
The protesting Khassadars said the government had promised to restore the services of all the sacked Khassadar and Levies personnel, but it did not happen. Only those personnel would be left out who were found to be involved in any negative activity.
Khassadars said Inspector General Police (IGP) Dr Naeem Khan had promised the former Fata Committee in presence of senior police officers at the Peshawar Central Police office that the former Khassadars and Levies will get one job as per family quota for one time. They said the IGP had also promised that all personnel will be deployed in their own tribal district, with the exception of district police officer (DPO).
The Khassadars said they will set up a protest camp at Bab-e-Khyber on March 08 if their demands were not accepted.
Levies personnel distance themselves from protest
The Levies personnel have distanced themselves from the protest of Khassadars.
Talking to media, some Levies personnel said they won’t become part of any protest and would continue to perform their duties regularly.
The KP government has made several assurances regarding merging Levies and Khassadars into KP Police. An initial notification of integration of 22 Khassadars into police was also issued on February 14. However, the Khassadars are demanding issuance of notification about integration of all Khassadars into police.
