JAMRUD, 29 December: The representatives of elders and youth of Kokikhel tribe in Khyber Agency have called upon the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to ask the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) to stop development work on Phase-II of Regi Lalma Town in Peshawar.

Tribal representatives including Malik Naseer Ahmed, Gohar Ayub and Haji Barak Torkhel said at a Jirga in Jamrud on Wednesday that initiation of development work on Phase-II of Regi Lalma Town was violation of the agreement. They said the matter is also pending in the court, therefore, development of the sector also constitutes contempt of court.

They threatened to stop work at Regi Lalma with force if it was not stopped by Saturday and responsibility of any disturbance will rest with the political administration and provincial government.

“Zone-II of Regi Lalma Town comes under the ownership of Kokikhel tribe and we will not accept any development work there. We will forcibly stop work on the site if it was not stopped by Saturday,” Malik Naseer, a tribal elder, told TNN.

The Regi Lalma Committee and Youth Organisation have also called a grand Jirga of Kokikhel tribe on Saturday morning to discuss the issue.
