PESHAWAR: The death toll from novel coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has mounted to 104 after six more deaths were reported in the province on Saturday.

According to the KP Health Department, four deaths on Monday were reported from Peshawar, while one each death was reported from Malakand and Bajaur.

As many as 120 new cases of coronavirus were reported in KP on Monday, bringing the provincial total to 1,984.

So far 533 people in KP have recovered from coronavirus as 18 new patients recovered during the last 24 hours.

Seven nurses in KP have also tested positive for COVID-19.

KP Young Nurses Association General Secretary Fazal Maula said all of the affected nurses are now in quarantine. Fazal Maula said 10 more nurses are suspected patients. He requested the government to ensure timely supply of personal protective equipment to nurses fighting against the pandemic.

Countrywide death toll mounts to 292

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country rose to 13,943 after different parts of the country reported new cases.

The total death toll in Pakistan now stands at 292, with KP becoming the first province to cross the 100 deaths and reporting 104 fatalities. Sindh has reported 85 deaths, Balochistan 13, Gilgit-Baltistan three, Punjab 84 and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported three deaths.

According to latest data, Sindh has reported 4,956 cases, Punjab 5,526, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,984, Balochistan 853, Islamabad Capital Territory 245, Gilgit-Baltistan 320 and Azad Jammu and Kashmir has reported 59 cases.

A total of 3,029 people in Pakistan have recovered from coronavirus so far.

Tests of Kamran Bangash’s family come back as negative

The coronavirus tests of all the family members of Special Assistant to KP Chief Minister on Local Government Kamran Bangash came back as negative on Monday.

On Sunday, the coronavirus test of Kamran Bangash came back as positive after which it was decided to conduct tests of his whole family. He was isolated at his home and tests of his 11 family members were taken.

Kamran Bangash said he is thankful to Almighty Allah that his family members are safe from coronavirus. He said the test of his photographer has also came back as positive. He has appealed to the people to adopt social distancing to avoid the spread of the pandemic.
