PESHAWAR, 21 April: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak has ordered to convert 1,000 Maktab schools staffed with one teacher each into primary schools instead of abolishing them.

The chief minister made this decision while presiding over a meeting to review performance of different districts at the Civil Secretariat Peshawar yesterday. Mr Khattak said besides setting up food and medicines laboratories, water supply and sanitation companies will also be established at all divisional headquarters.

On the occasion, the chief minister ordered providing jobs to the people who have provided free of cost land for construction of schools. He also ordered strict action against quacks, profiteers, encroachers and teachers who remain absent from their duties.
