PESHAWAR, 12 November: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture Department will arrange music contests with the title of “Ya Qurbaan” from 14 November to promote the art of music and encourage the emerging singers.
A statement of the Culture Department said the music contest on the new styles of Tappa (a style of Pashto singing) and Hindiko, Seraiki and Khowar languages songs will be organised on divisional level. The first competition will be held on 14 November in Mardan, the second contest will be organised on 18 November in Hazara, third will be organised in Peshawar on 21 November, fourth will be organised in Dera Ismail Khan on 25 November, fifth will be organised in Kohat on 29 November, sixth in Bannu on 3 December and the last competition will be organised on 6 December in Malakand division.
The statement said a large competition among the singers who show good performance on the divisional level competitions will be held at Nishtar Hall in Peshawar on 10 December. The top singers on divisional level will get prize of Rs100,000, second position holders will get Rs75,000 and third position holders will get Rs50,000 each. The winner of the grand final at Nishtar Hall will get Rs300,000, second position holder will get Rs200,000 and third position holder will get Rs100,000.
Those who aspire to participate in the music contests can register their names with deputy commissioners of their districts.
