PESHAWAR, 28 May: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission has arrested former provincial minister for excise and taxation Liaquat Shabab, who is associated with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), over corruption charges.

According to the KP Ehtesab Commission, Mr Shabab is facing allegations of making illegal assets worth billions of rupees and corruption during his tenure as provincial minister. The former minister has been arrested from his residence.

KP Ehtesab Commission has been established by the provincial government to act against corrupt elements. The Ehtesab Commission had also arrested father of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA in Karak Gul Sahib and former government official Noor Daraz Khan over corruption charges few days ago.
