PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election Commissioner, Pir Maqbool Shah on Thursday administered oath to the newly posted District Returning Officers (DROs) for merged areas. The oath-taking ceremony was held here at a local hotel.
The oath was taken under Election Act 2017.
The ECP has also arranged training for the DROs and ROs as the election for the newly created general seats for the merged areas for KP Assembly likely to be held for the first time. It merits to mention here that election for KP assembly’s general seats from merged areas is due this year.
The tribal districts merged into the KP in the wake of the 25th amendment.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has appointed district returning officers (DROs) and returning officers (ROs) to supervise election on 16 seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in the merged tribal districts of the province.
According to the notification issued by the ECP, the schedule for election will be released in the last week of this month. ECP has appointed DROs in the eight districts of the province and returning officers in the 16 provincial assembly constituencies where the election will be held. Besides this, the election commissioner was appointed as returning officer for election on four reserved seats for women and one for minorities.
Last week, ECP had said updated electoral lists containing more than 26 million voters were provided to all relevant districts. The voters belong to PK-100 to PK-115 can send their CNIC on 8300 to know about the registration of their votes.
A voter should submit form No 21 for the registration and transfer of polling station at the office of concerned District Election Commissioner or Registration Officer. All the office details and form number 21 can also be obtained from the website of the Election Commission of Pakistan www.ecp.gov.pk.
