PESHAWAR, 26 November: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Muzaffar Syed has refused to attend the National Finance Commission (NFC) meeting called by the federal government on Monday.

The minister said while addressing a meeting on Friday that he could not get agenda or working paper of the meeting despite repeated requests. He said the provincial government cannot prepare for the meeting due to two weekly holidays on Saturday and Sunday ahead of the meeting. He said the federal government was now doing politics on important national matters like the NFC which may damage the national unity and might result into dangerous consequences.

Muzaffar Syed has sent the names of Professor Ibrahim and Consultant Ihteshamul Haq in his place to attend the 9th NFC Award meeting.

The employees of the Finance Department have been called to office on Saturday despite weekly off as the agenda of the meeting was received late on Friday night.
