PESHAWAR, 24 August: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has been accused of deceiving the people of the province by allowing the federal government to procure land for the Mansehra-Thakot section of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Dr. Said Alam Mehsud, who established the organization – Corridor Front, to create awareness among masses about the multi-billion dollars project, alleged that the provincial government had banned selling and purchasing of land in Mansehra district by invoking Section-4 only to facilitate the federal government to procure the land for CPEC.

“The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had pledged that unless the federal government does not give its due share to KP in the corridor project and build the western route, it would not allow it to pass the road through Hazara division and KP government would not provide land to the Mansehra-Thakot section of the corridor. But now it seems that the provincial government had kept us in the dark and facilitated the federal government to acquire land for the project,” Dr. Said Alam Mehsud said while addressing a news conference here on Wednesday.

He urged the PTI-led provincial government to clarify its position on the issue and take back the Section-4 within a week time, otherwise they would divert the protest towards the provincial government.

“If the KP government did not take back its decision, we would believe that it has surrendered its claims. Now we will not protest against the federal government, we will protest against Pervez Khattak,” Dr. Mehsud remarked.

Dr. Said Alam Mehsud is the most vocal person raising his voice on different fora against alleged discrimination with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He had been saying that the federal government had shifted all the developmental projects from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab which are part of the CPEC.
