PESHAWAR, 29 May: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has imposed emergency in all large and small hospitals of the province for tomorrow during the local bodies polls.
According to a handout of the KP Health Department, holidays of all the doctors and other staff have been cancelled. The hospitals staff that were already on holidays have also been called for duty tomorrow. The handout stated that a large number of people will come out of their houses tomorrow for casting their votes in the local bodies polls. It said the purpose of imposing emergency in the hospitals is to ensure timely medical facilities in case of any untoward incident.
Strict security measures have been adopted for tomorrow’s local bodies polls in KP. Police said more than 80,000 security personnel have been deployed in the province.
One the other hand, the KP government has also released Rs350 million for vehicles, fuel, food and other expanses of Police Department. Rs20 million have been released for expanses of police in Peshawar. However, public transport is unavailable on roads in Peshawar as police are utilising them for their movement due to which the commuters and transporters are facing many difficulties in scorching heat.
Meanwhile, 4,000 Khassadar force personnel from Khyber Agency are also performing security duties in KP for local bodies polls.
