PESHAWAR, 14 September: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has released over Rs120 million funds for establishment of a burn centre in Peshawar.

The Health Department said the funds have been released to Construction and Works Department. The burn centre in Hayatabad, Peshawar will be established with the cooperation of US Agency for International Development (USAID) which has pledged to provide Rs1.5 billion for the project.

The USAID said in a statement that the 120-bed burn centre will provide complete treatment facilities to patients having burn injuries from fire or other incidents. Due to lack of burn centre in KP, the people of the province go to Punjab for treatment of burn injuries. The burn centre in Peshawar will also provide facility of surgery to patients having burn injuries.
