PESHAWAR, 13 November: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has released Rs8.5 billion for relief and rehabilitation of the earthquake affected people of the province.
KP Chief Minister’s Adviser Mushtaq Ghani told media persons on Thursday that the 50 percent amount of the relief package announced by the federal government has not been released so far. He said difficulties had been faced in paying compensation to the affected people due to non-availability of funds from the federal government.
Mr Ghani asked all the deputy commissioners of the province to ensure payment of compensation amount to quake affected people by 25 November. He said Ra1.5 billion have been distributed among the quake affected people of KP so far. He said the families of 227 people who lost their lives in the 26 October quake and 368 injured people have received compensation amount.
