PESHAWAR, 12 May: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has selected 743,000 people for provision of flour and ghee on subsidised rates.
KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak held a meeting with officials associated with the food package scheme yesterday during which he was briefed about the package.
The chief minister was told that the identity cards of 560,000 people selected for Insaf Card scheme have been verified. He was told that the identity cards of 183,000 other people selected for the scheme had been blocked by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for different reasons.
Mr Khattak directed issuance of Insaf Cards to deserving people at the earliest. He also demanded NADRA to unblock the identity cards of beneficiaries of the scheme.
Under the food scheme, the deserving people will get five kilograms ghee every month by paying Rs40 less than Utility Stores Corporation (USC) rates for each kilogram. Similarly, the beneficiaries will also get 50 kilograms flour each month by paying Rs10 less than USC rates for each kilogram.
