PESHAWAR, 28 June: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to install solar power panels to improve security measures in jails.
According to sources, officials had expressed fears that militants might take advantage of power load-shedding in jails to breach security. Installation of solar power panels will ensure uninterrupted power supply in jails and the security officials will be able to monitor security measures round the clock.
An amount of Rs248 million has also been earmarked for security measures in 11 jails of KP in the budget. The amount will be spent on installation of CCTV cameras, scanning machines and other security equipment in jails.
