PESHAWAR, 4 November: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has said the relief teams have not reached 10 to 15 percent areas affected by the last week’s earthquake.

The KP government spokesman Mushtaq Ghani told media persons on Tuesday that relief activities in most of the affected areas have been concluded. He said the process of distribution of compensation cheques has also been continuing. He said the rescue and relief teams have not reached the far flung mountainous areas so far.

Mr Ghani said the newly elected local government representatives are also making efforts for providing maximum relief to the affected people. he said foreign NGOs area also working in the affected areas. He said the government has responded to the catastrophe in an effective manner and every effort will be made to reach out to every affected area.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also extended the compensation cheques distribution process to 14 November. Earlier, the concerned government departments were directed to ensure distribution of compensation cheques among all the affected people till 5 November.
