PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman says he is receiving way too low salary considering his services as a governor.
Talking to a news channel after a section of media reported that the governors may get 800 percent increase in their salaries, Shah Farman said he is currently receiving only Rs80,000 as salary for his services as governor. He said the salary of the governor is even lower than the members of the national and provincial assemblies.
The governor said the previous government had prepared a law that the salary of the President of Pakistan should be higher than the Chief Justice of Pakistan. He said if the law is approved, then it will also apply on governors. However, he said, he doesn’t know how much it would impact his salary. He said the salary of a person holding a high office should be higher in order to keep him away from corruption.
