PESHAWAR, 27 October: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced to increase the prize money of position holder students in matric and intermediate exams of government schools to Rs1 million.

KP Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan made this announcement while addressing a ceremony arranged in the honour of position holder students in Kohat on Thursday. The minister said top 10 position holders will get the cash prize of Rs500,000 each, while top 20 position holders will get Rs300,000 each. He said he wants to increase the prize amount to Rs10 million as getting top positions despite scarce resources is a matter of great honour.

The minister said the Education Department has taken concrete measures to stop the use of unfair means in the exams. He said these steps include digitalisation of education boards, installation of CCTV cameras in the exam halls and automatic paper checking system.

On the occasion, Muhammad Atif announced one-month bonus salary for the employees of Kohat Education Board.
