PESHAWAR: The provincial government on Wednesday rescheduled the budget session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly which was summoned on Thursday, October 11.

The session will now held on Monday, October 15, says a notification issued by the K-P assembly secretariat. Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has reportedly directed the Secretary Finance to cancel the Thursday budget session.

On Wednesday, the assembly secretariat issued another notification through which it withdrew its earlier notification under which the budget session for the fiscal year 2018-19 was summoned.

The officials at Finance Planning and Development department expressed unawareness why the session was rescheduled and said that the budget has been prepared was ready to be presented before the cabinet for approval prior to its presentation in the K-P assembly for debate and voting.

The former government of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in K-P could not present the budget for the year 2018-19 since it did not had the required strength in the house to pass the budget.
