PESHAWAR, November 20: The Khyber Pakhtukhwa government has decided to prepare documents for the unregistered vehicles being used in Malakand division.

Chief Minister Mr Pervez Khattak chaired a meeting, which was also attended by officials of the excise and police departments.

The officials told the chief minister that sale of spare parts of stolen vehicles had been on the rise in Malakand region and that the police are facing problems in taking action against the unregistered vehicles and auto thefts.

The chief minister asked the officials to register the vehicles in Malakand. There would be no fee for this registration and the vehicles, after getting registered, would not be allowed to move outside Malakand division.

Residents of the Malakand division, which comprises several districts including Swat, Upper and Lower Dir, Chitral, Shangla, Swat and Buner etc, have been using non-custom paid vehicles since long. Most of the residents in these areas either do business of transport, or they go overseas to earn their livelihood.
