PESHAWAR, 26 October: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has imposed emergency in all hospitals of the province to deal with human casualties caused by earthquake that struck Pakistan in the afternoon.

Talking to media persons in Peshawar,  provincial Health Minister Shahram Tarakai announced the imposition of emergency in all hospitals of KP. However he did not share the number of casualties saying that they were collecting information about the death toll in the province.

At least 19 people were killed and dozens other injured in KP and FATA in collapse of buildings caused by  earthquake. At least 200 injured have been admitted in Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.

The quake had a magnitude of 7.7, the US Geological survey reported, and was centred in a mountainous region 45km (28 miles) south-west of Jarm. Tremors were also felt in Kabul and New Delhi. The Pakistan Meteorological Department said the magnitude of the earthquake was 8.1.

Seven people were killed in Swat and Bajaur tribal region each  after the collapse of buildings in the area. Five people were killed in Swabi and Peshawar

People in Peshawar and rest of the country evacuated residential and commercial buildings after earthquake.
