PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government says coronavirus vaccination and treatment has been included in the Sehat Insaf Card. It said the vaccination and all treatment related to coronavirus will be absolutely free of cost under the Sehat Insaf Card.

KP Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra said while talking to journalists that the move has been taken to control the prevailing third wave of coronavirus which is proving to be more dangerous than the first two waves. The minister asked the people to cooperate with the government in mitigating pressure on the health sector by adopting precautionary measures for coronavirus.

Mr Jhagra said that all patients would get their treatment under the Sehat Insaf Plus Programme, while 22 types of diseases are also treated under the health insurance programme. He said the KP government has received scores of requests for inclusion of coronavirus treatment in the cards. He said the treatment of corona was included on public demand and soon the data would be shared with the public once it is final.

At present, at least 35,000 people avail treatment through the Sehat Insaf Cards. In Peshawar 25 percent patients are getting their treatment on Sehat Insaf Card, followed by 19 percent in Swat and Nowshera each, Mardan 18 percent, 17 per cent in Swabi/Buner, 14 percent in Malakand and lower Dir each, 13 percent in Charsadda, 11 percent in Bajaur, 10 percent in Kohat, 8 percent Dir Upper and 7 percent in Haripur.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information Kamran Khan Bangash said inclusion of corona treatment in Sehat Card scheme was a landmark decision.

He aid now people will get free treatment for coronavirus after the announcement of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.

Kamran Bangash said whenever there was a need for a corona vaccine the government would ensure its availability. He said the government did not want to go for reverse gear as far as the economic, trade and business activities were concerned during the third wave of corona.

He said the precautionary measures by the provincial government would be implemented by all means and the district administrations have been asked to take appropriate measures to curtail the corona situation.
