PESHAWAR, 30 September: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has withdrawn the notice of removal of Managing Director (MD) of Bank of Khyber Shamsul Qayyum after which the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has disposed of the petition filed against his dismissal.
Advocate General from the KP government told the court on Friday that the provincial government is withdrawing the dismissal notice against the MD and a new MD will be appointed after his retirement for which consultation has been initiated. Shamsul Qayyum had said in his petition in the PHC that his dismissal by the KP government was illegal.
Shamsul Qayyum had published an advertisement in newspapers in which he had accused KP Finance Minister Muzaffar Syed of using the funds of the bank for political purposes. He had also accused the provincial minister of meddling with the affairs of the bank and appointments.
The minister had rejected the allegations and demanded action against the MD. The KP government had removed the MD from his post after which he had approached the court against his removal.
