PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mahmood Khan said on Thursday that an agriculture research centre will be established in Dera Ismail Khan.
He also directed the completion of exploration of oil and gas in Pharpur and Darzinda areas within four months.
“Two industrial zones would also be established in DI Khan”, the chief minister during a meeting promised the elected members including Ali Amin Gandapur and other MPAs from the district. He went on to promise the construction of a National Park, launching of a campaign of Olive trees plantation, setting up private Shelter home and the up gradation of category D-Hospital in DI Khan.
He also directed the concerned authorities to send a proposal to secretary health for the purpose.The Chief Minister assured that postings of DMOs would be made possible in all hospitals in DI Khan.
The CM made these promises during the meeting regarding the development and non-developmental activities in DI Khan at Chief Minister Secretariat where besides the elected representative of the district, Secretary Finance and Deputy Commissioner, DI Khan were also present.
Mahmood Khan directed the irrigation department and WAPDA to resolve the issue of Waran canal to ensure smooth flow of water for irrigating 80 thousand acre agriculture land of DI Khan.
He also directed that a master plan should be prepared for the shifting of Bus adda from the main Bazaar to resolve traffic issues. During the meeting, sugarcane grower’s subsidy was also discussed and the CM issued directions that a complete strategy be developed to resolve the issue.
“Water supply schemes would be completed urgently, so as to provide clean drinking water to the people,” said the CM “Technical staff would also be provided for the local government department in DI Khan.”
Mehmood Khan also said that agriculture extension will be made possible and commercial land would be further developed for the district. Chief Minister directed that a full-fledged plan should be prepared to protect Kacha areas from floods and other natural disasters in DI Khan.
