PESHAWAR, 5 November: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Government has decided to form Primary Healthcare Management Committee (PCMC) for the public sector hospitals and Basic Health Units (BHUs) of the Province on the analogy of Parents, Teachers Councils (PTCs) in public sector schools, says a handout issued here on Thursday.
The decision was taken in a high level meeting of KP health department headed by Senior Minister for Health, Shahram Tarakai.
According to handout, there will be a separate PCMC for every healthcare service delivery outlet with representation from Local Bodies, District Administration, Health Department and health professionals.
The proposed committees would be provided with sufficient funds for their respective health units to be spent on repair work, renovation, cleanliness, provision of basic requirements and other emergency nature of works in the transparent manner.
Tarakai directed the participants of the meeting to finalize the model of the proposed PCMCs within next two days so that it could be presented to the Chief Minister for final approval. He also directed the relevant quarters to develop such a mechanism that could ensure the transparent and effective use of funds to be provided to the PCMCs.
