PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has planned to launch “Fruits for all” program in the province to meet the nutrition requirements of the young generation.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman chaired the meeting on Friday to review the progress so far made to launch the program.
The Fruits For All program is being started in the province in collaboration and funding by the National Bank of Pakistan.
The governor was informed that 1 lac 30 thousand fruit plants would be provided to different institutions as per their demand in the month of January and plantation drive would also be started in the same month.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shah Farman said on this occasion that “Fruits For All” program is planned to meet the nutrition requirements of the young generation. The Governor added that his government wants the province to become the fruit producer province so that every person would have sufficient fruits availability and no one would need to buy fruits from markets.
The Governor directed Agriculture Department to check the quality of fruit plants in accordance with weather condition for fruit plantation in the selected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Agriculture Muhammad Israr, Principal Secretary to Governor Nizam-ud-Din and representatives of National Bank of Pakistan, National Highway Authority, Agriculture and Forest Department.
