PESHAWAR, November 17: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced to establish a hospital for rehabilitation and treatment of drug addicts.

Addressing a meeting yesterday, Chief Minister Mr Pervez Khattak said the number of heroin and other drug addicts had been increasing in the city with each passing day and that the issue needed to be tackled as soon as possible.

He directed the respective departments to unite together for the cause and start treatment of the addicts to root out the social evil.

The chief minister has given approval for deploying psychiatrists and other workers for the hospital, which will comprise 200 beds. In addition, a five-member committee will also be formed in near future.

Mr Khattak has directed concerned departments to arrange two buildings for the establishment of the hospital if more space was required.
