PESHAWAR, 11 October: The Health Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has given 3,000 smartphones to vaccinators of Expanded Programme for Immunisation (EPI) to monitor their performance.
All the smartphones of vaccinators will be connected to a central dashboard with the help of which the health officers of all the districts will be able to access the vaccinators online. The smartphones will help in the online monitoring of the vaccinators.
According to the Information Department, the Health Department and Telenor Pakistan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to bring vaccinators under monitoring framework on Tuesday. The Health Department Secretary Abid Majeed said on the occasion that the provincial government had earlier provided motorcycles to workers administering vaccines of different diseases. He said provision of smartphones will further improve the performance of vaccinators.
Under the smartphone service, Telenor Pakistan will provide 4 GB internet data, 300 free minutes calls to every network and 500 free text messages to vaccinators per month.
At the end of the MoU signing ceremony, the secretary Health Department handed over the smartphones to concerned district health officers for distribution among vaccinators.
