PESHAWAR, 22 April: Khyber Pakthunkhwa police have decided to extend till the completion of Operation Zarb-e-Azb the service contract of 500 displaced tribesmen of North Waziristan who were inducted as police constables.

Additional Inspector General (establishment) Fida Hussain said that these constables were appointed on temporary basis in December last year. He said that the contracts of these constables have been extended till August 05, 2015 but their contract would stand terminated if the military operation in NWA ends before this date. However, if the operation goes beyond August 05, the contract of these constables would also be extended, he said.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police said that last year the police department had sent a demand of Rs. 30 million to the federal government to accommodate 3,000 tribesmen in police department but it has to yet to receive any response from the Centre.
