KP Police finalise 90 percent work to introduce policing to ex-Fata

PESHAWAR: KP Inspector General of Police Salahuddin Khan Mahsud directed police department to expedite work on extending policing to tribal areas.

The IG was briefed that 90 percent arrangements have been finalized to introduce regular policing in the tribal areas with 45,000 personnel and 95 police stations, said media reports quoting the IG.

The IG was told that 13 police lines and 190 police posts will be set up across the tribal districts to improve the law and order. While Levies force and Khassadars will be made part of the 45,000- strong police contingent apart from recruiting 22,000 more personnel.

The IG, later, told media that the department was in coordination with the Army and Frontier Corps about the operational matters of security in the tribal districts.

The police department wrote to the civil administration again to provide details including service record, education and others of all the Levies and Khassadars serving in the former Fata.

Special focus will be given on setting up the Counter Terrorism Department and the elite force in the tribal districts that witnessed worst terrorism in the recent past as well as training and equipping of elite force.
