PESHAWAR: After the merger of Khasadars and Levies forces with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department, the provincial government has announced the appointment of 386 senior police officers in tribal districts.

In this regard, a provincial Police department has sent a summary to the federal interior ministry along with list of the police officers for approval. The list includes 20 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSPs), Deputy Superintendent (SPs), 33 inspectors and 54 Sub-Inspectors (SI).

Last month, KP government has appointed District Police Officers (DPOs) for all tribal districts as part of the plan to extend police to the tribal belt. The decision of appointment was made in the meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Apex committee held in the chair of Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman.

The KP Inspector General of Police issued a notification of appointment of Pir Shahab Ali Shah as DPO Bajaur, Abdur Raheed as DPO Mohmand,  Muhammad Hussain as DPO Khyber, Salah Uddin as DPO Orakzai, Rahim Shah as DPO Kurram, Kifayat Ullah as DPO North Waziristan and Attaullah Wazir as DPO South Waziristan.

On March 6, the home and tribal affairs department issued the notification saying that 25 police stations will be built in the merged tribal districts. In Bajaur district, the police stations will be built in Khar and Nawagai. Lower Mohmand, Upper Mohmand, and Baizai will get police stations in Mohmand district. There will be two police stations in Khyber district. One will be in Landi Kotal and other in Bara. Orakzai will have stations in Lower Orakzai and Upper Orakzai.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has already announced the merger 28000 levies and Khasadarsf forces with KP police department within six month times. However, most the of senior as well as subordinate officials of both the forces are not properly trained and highly educated,  therefore, it is planned to appoint seniors officials from other parts of the province.
