Peshawar is by and far the most affected district of KP from coronavirus followed by Swat. The pandemic situation is also dangerous in Nowshera, Mardan, Abbottabad, Charsadda and some other districts. Restrictions in the districts with less than 5 percent corona cases are easing from May 24, but its impact will be closely monitored keeping in view the tight situation of corona statistics overall in the province.

Overall in Pakistan, as many as 4,207 new coronavirus infections emerged on Thursday, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 890, 391 since the pandemic hit the country last year. It is first time during the last 13 days that over 4,000 coronavirus cases have been reported in a single day, indicating that the situation is again deteriorating after the Eid lockdown.

The coronavirus positivity rate in Pakistan on Thursday remained at 8.22 percent.

During the last 24 hours, Pakistan reported 131 new deaths, taking the countrywide death toll to 19,987. In addition, total recoveries were recorded at 804,122.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic both in terms of cases reported as well as deaths followed by Sindh, KP, and Balochistan. As many as 51,130 corona tests were conducted during the last 24 hours. The total number of tests currently stands at 12,603,469.

The process of vaccinating people against the virus is continuing smoothly with 4.7 million doses administered so far.
