PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister for local government Kamran Bangash and Member National Assembly from the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) Munir Khan Orakzai have been tested positive for coronavirus after which they have been isolated at their homes and tests of their family members are also being taken.

“It is sad to announce that honourable assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for local government Mr Kamran Bangash has tested positive for coronavirus. He has requested the public to stay home in order to defeat the virus. We wish him a speedy recovery,” the KP Health Department said.

The KP government’s focal person said Kamran Bangash was taken to hospital on Friday after his health condition deteriorated. On advice of doctors, his test was conducted at 6:00am at Khyber Medical University (KMU) which came back as positive. The special assistant has been isolated at his home and his 11 family members are also been tested.

Kamran Bangash remained active during the coronavirus emergency and he had also visited southern districts two days ago to monitor the activities of the local government and encourage the field staff. The performance of the Local Government Department is going well on the Citizen Portal for the last two months.

Chief Minister Mehmood Khan prayed for speedy recovery of Kamran Bangash and urged the need for social distancing.

“It is sorrowful news about the corona test resulting positive for Kamran Bangash. May Allah give him the strength to beat the virus. We are all praying for him. It can’t be emphasised enough that it is absolutely necessary for everyone to observe social distancing,” the chief minister said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus test of MMA MNA Munir Khan Orakzai has also came back as positive.

Munir Khan Orakzai’s son Akhtar Munir confirmed that his father has been diagnosed with the virus. He said the lawmaker was on ventilator on Friday night at Hayatabad Complex.

He said the condition of Munir Orakzai has improved now. Akhtar said his father is at home due to lockdown and the rest of the family is also undergoing tests.
