PESHAWAR, 28 October: Former captain of Sri Lanka cricket team Kumar Sangakkara has signed up for the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The PSL Chairman Najam Sethi said on Tuesday that the significance of the event will further increase with the joining of Sangakkara. The former Sri Lanka captain retired from international cricket two months ago.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) says it has already signed Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo from the West Indies, Tilakaratne Dilshan, Maheela Jayawardene and Lasith Malinga from Sri Lanka, Shane Watson and Warner from Australia, Imran Tahir of South Africa, Kevin Pietersen from England, Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh and many other world class players for the inaugural season of PSL scheduled to be held in February next year in Dubai and Sharjah.

Twenty-four matches will be played during the tournament among five teams of Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Islamabad.
