Landowners refuse to handover lands for mega city project on Motorway

NOWSHERA: The infuriated owners of lands on sides of Motorway near Nowshera took to streets on Sunday and staged a protest against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for allegedly depriving them of their lands for a mega city project under China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The owners holding banners inscribed with demands and chanted slogans aginst the chief minister. They refused to handover their lands for the project and said if the project was that important than the CM should provide land in his own constituency.

The 21000 acres of agricultural land located on sides of Motorway near Colonel Sher Khan Interchange and protesters alleged that the CM wanted to construct a housing scheme on it.

“The CM has prepared a housing scheme and tried twice to deprive us of our lands but on both occasion we moved the Peshawar High Court and won the cases against him,” said Muhammad Zafar, a protester.

They alleged that it was a plot to grab the agricultural lands in the name of CPEC and imposed section 4 to deprive them of their land, threatening to block Motorway for traffic as protest against any attempt in this regard.
