TANK, 18 May: With the polling day for the local government elections drawing nearer, the printing press owners have increased the printing rates as well.

Local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are set for 30th the instant.

People contesting the election complain that the material which could be easily printed by paying 5,000 rupees now cost them 8,000-9,000 rupees.

While talking to TNN, Zeeshan Bhittani who recently visited a press market in Tank district said there is no government check on printers to restrain them from raising the rates at their own. “Due to the elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rates of printing stickers and posters have also increased. We request the government to ensure that the printers do not overcharge us,” he said.

On the other hand, the printers say that they are overburdened and they send the material to Rawalpindi and Lahore which cost them more than the local market.
