LOWER DIR, 11 August: A local leader of Jamiat-e-ulema Islam (JUI-F) Haji Said Shah was gunned down by unknown armed men  in Lower Dir on Monday morning, said local police.

The police said that Haji Said Shah was present in his home in Malkook area when some armed men barged into his house and opened fire on him.

A First Information Report (FIR) of the incident has been lodged. However, it is yet to be ascertained whether it was an act of terror or result of personal enmity, said the police.

Later on, residents of the area and workers of JUI-F staged a protest demonstration against the incident in Talash area and demanded of the government to arrest the killers.

Meanwhile, JUI-F provincial Amir Maulana Gul Naseeb strongly condemned the incident while talking to TNN. He announced to stage protest demonstrations against the killing of his party leader  across the province from tomorrow (Friday)
